Where can I find the timetable? How much does it cost? Where do I buy a ticket? Is my bus or train on time? Will there be enough space available?
These are all questions worth considering before travelling by intercity public transport. So let’s get started!

TIMETABLE
In order to travel by bus or train, we must first know where and when the services operate. There are many ways to obtain this information. We can, for example, check timetables directly with each individual operator (https://potniski.sz.si/, https://www.nomago.si/vozovnice/vozni-red, https://arriva.si/ in https://www.apms.si/voznired) or use unified journey‑planning tools that combine information from multiple providers https://brezavta.si/.
On https://brezavta.si/ you can also check timetables and expected arrivals for a specific bus or railway station or stop, and, where data is available, even monitor bus locations and train delays in real time.
HOW TO BUY A TICKET
In Slovenia, the IJPP system (Integrated Public Passenger Transport) has been in operation for more than ten years. This means that with a single ticket (a contactless smart card), it is possible to travel on all modes of public transport in Slovenia—both trains and buses. The IJPP smart card can be purchased at designated sales locations, at Slovenian Railways ticket machines at Brnik Airport, or online (with home delivery).
Without an IJPP smart card, it is only possible to purchase single (one‑way) tickets, either online, from bus drivers, or at bus station ticket offices.
For online ticket purchases, the following websites are recommended: https://ijpp.arriva.si/, https://ijpp.nomago.si/ or https://eshop.sz.si/.
TYPES OF TICKETS
There are several types of tickets available:
- IJPP tickets and
- SŽ tickets
IJPP tickets are valid for travel on both trains and buses, whereas SŽ tickets are only valid on trains operated by Slovenian Railways.
More about SŽ tickets on website from Slovenian Railways.
